Athletes from Carlton le Willows have been named county champions after scooping gold medals in a recent sportshall athletics competition.

The Academy sent two Year 7 teams – boys and girls –to represent Gedling at the Nottinghamshire County Finals in Harvey Hadden Sports Village at the end of April – with both teams taking home gold thanks to a top place position. A team of Year 8 athletes also finished in bronze medal position.

All three teams earned their place at the event – which included the best eights schools from across the county – after taking part in the Gedling area sportshall athletics event. During the Gedling event, the team of Year 8 girls finished in first place and the Year 7 teams won both their competitions.

Said PE Teacher Miss Jones: “This is a great achievement.  Pupils should be really proud of themselves.  Their commitment to training and their behaviour whilst out on the school trip was fantastic.”
