Year 9 science students from Carlton le Willows have been crowned champions at a trust-wide Science Mavericks event.

The 28 Academy student pitted their wits against students from other schools within the Trust to claim the title – more than 100 points away from their second place rivals.

The Delta Mavericks scheme is run every year and gives the brightest science minds from each school the chance to compete against their peers from other schools.

Said Head of Biology at Carlton le Willows Dr Stevenson: “I am so proud of Carlton  le Willows for scooping the Mavericks title . They finished with 215 points – more than 100 points more than second place. Outstanding results!”

The Year 9 victory comes after Year 11 took part in the event earlier this term. Year 10 will get the chance to see if they can scoop the title later in the school year.
