YEAR 8 athletes from Carlton le Willows have been crowned Sportshall Athletics county champions –  for the second time in two years.

Two teams from Year 8 – boys and girls – took gold medals in the Nottinghamshire county athletics competition in March.

The accolade came after they qualified for the event, with success in the Gedling tournament the month before.

Said PE Teacher Miss Jones: “Beating off competition from nine other schools in the county, our athletes showed determination  and resilience, with commitment to training and resulting in wins in the majority of running, jumping and throwing events. I am really proud of them.”

Also bringing home the medals, were the Year 7 girls team who scooped silver in their county athletics event. Well done to everyone!
